Heilig Vuur West (Holy Fire Community) is a project for churchrenewal. We are a community with people from different backgrounds. In our search for God, we wish to be an open and creative community, where everyone contributes from their own, unique, cultural perspective. We expressly wish to be a community, out of love for ourcity and its people, and in order to contribute to a warmly human environment in our neighbourhood.

Maybe you are curious and you would like to know who we are or what role God wants to play in your life. Perhaps you are in search of meaning. If you want to meet people who share these questions, come to one of our activities, or drop us a line.

All are welcome, whether you have any church affiliation or not, and whether you live in Amsterdam
Oud-West or not.

Do you want to become involved?

It would be great if you want to join us! You are very welcome to visit our activities. If you want to receive a personal invitation, please fill in your email-address at our homepage.

Who we are

Vision and mission statement

Our vision and mission are expressions of our identity as a community, they are the foundations of our work.

Vision: The first epistle of John, the 4th chapter, the 12th verse:

"No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us ans his love is made complete in us."

Mission:
We will search for God in each other, in the city and in ourselves.
We would like to do so with others, inspired and challenged by the stories about Jesus of Nazareth.
We wish to form a loving community with all who come on our path.
We are not an institution, but wish to remain fluid, in community with the quest of the first christians.

A little bit of history

A couple of years ago, only two tiny protestant congregations were active in our part of the city. With
the demise of these congregations, we were faced with the challenge of finding new forms of presence
in faith in this part of Amsterdam.
